Our mission is to provide high-quality, gently used, and new kids clothing at affordable prices while supporting our local community. From adorable jackets and cozy sweaters to stylish t-shirts and swimwear for the whole family, we have everything your little ones need, plus a selection of locally sourced goods like coffee, granola, greeting cards, and even items for fur kids!

We believe in giving back to our community, so clothing items that we can't sell are donated to local families in need. The Basics of Our Consignment Agreement

Consignment Period: 3 months
Payout Options: store credit (credit never expires) or 40% of sale price
Payout Request: Must be requested by email; otherwise, defaults to store credit after 3 months
Non-Accepted Items: Can be returned or donated to local families, Diabetes Association, Crossway Community Thrift or Women in Need
Termination: 30 days' notice from either party

Welcome to Valley Kids! We are delighted to help you consign your children's clothing and gear. Please read the following detailed instructions to ensure a seamless consigning experience.

Items We Are Looking For:

Gently Used or New:

Seasonal or high demand Kids Clothing: Newborn to 14 years
Seasonal or high demand Kids Shoes: Newborn to 14 years
Seasonal or high demand Kids Hats: Newborn to 14 years
Kids Swim Wear: Must be like new!
Adult Swim Wear: Must be new or like new!
Diaper Bags: Like new only
Blankets: Neutral colours only
Stuffed Animals: Neutral colours, like new
High Demand Books such as Robert Munsch and Dr. Seuss
Wooden Toys: (please note that Valley Kids reserves the right to refinish and/or repair all furniture and wooden toys – items that have been requested for return will be returned in refurbished condition if it does not sell but reserves the right to extend the consignment period on all refurbished toys and furniture)
Small Wooden Kids’ Furniture: Kids sized tables, chairs, kitchens, stools, items that have been requested for return will be returned in refurbished condition if it does not sell but reserves the right to extend the consignment period on all refurbished toys and furniture)
Kids Décor: Neutral coloured:Mirrors, stools, artwork, toy bins, baskets, bookshelves, etc.
Animal Collars and Leashes: Must be like new!

Things we DO NOT ACCEPT at this time:

Plastic toys that would not fit in a box 12" x 18" x 6"
Bottles
Baby Appliances (breast pumps, monitors, bottle warmers, etc.)
Underwear - any underwear received in your drop off will be disposed of and will not be returned or consigned
Socks - Accepted by donation only. If there are socks in your drop off we will assume they are donation
PLEASE NOTE: As of January 1st, 2025, we only accept graphic short sleeved t-shirts and infant onesies from big box stores (George, Joe Fresh, Carter's, Kirkland, Disney, Marvel, DC, etc.) by donation. If these items are in your drop off we will assume they are donation
Stuffed animals that are not like new
Books with rips, missing pages or writing inside

Transparent Pricing:

At Valley Kids & Local Market, we believe in offering quality items at affordable prices while keeping our process simple and transparent. Our pricing model is based on the original retail price of each item and its current condition. Here's how it works:

Like New: Items that are in excellent condition, showing minimal to no wear, are priced at 30% of their original retail value.
Gently Used: Items with slight wear but still in great shape are priced between 25-30% of retail.
Well-Loved: For items that show more noticeable wear but are still fully functional, we price them at 20-25% of retail.

This ensures you get great deals while knowing exactly how we determine the price. We strive to make quality second-hand shopping accessible for all families!

Preparing Your Items:

All drop off items must be clearly labeled with your full name and phone number. Failure to properly label your items will result in the assumption that your items are by donation and no consignment credit will be assigned to your account.
Ensure all items are freshly laundered with scent free laundry detergent and free from stains, rips, broken zippers or missing buttons. Items that require laundering will reduce your consignment portion to 20% of sale price to account for cleaning costs.
Make sure that shoes and boots have been thoroughly cleaned. Items that require cleaning will reduce your consignment portion to 20% of sale price to account for cleaning costs.
Inspect items for any defects such as missing buttons, broken zippers, or excessive wear. We might still be able to take it depending on the demand for the item but keep in mind that we won't be able to fix everything.
It's best to consign items in the current season but if it's super cute, we may be able to hold on to it until the next season.

Quality Standards:

We strive to offer high-quality items to our customers. Please ensure that the items you consign are in excellent condition, free of stains, tears, and excessive wear.

For high-demand items like shoes and coats, we may choose to clean them to ensure they meet our quality standards. However, please note that if we handle the cleaning process, your consignment rate for those items will be reduced from 40% to 20% of the sale price. This allows us to cover the cost of cleaning while still offering your items at their best to potential buyers.

Consignment Appointment:

While you do not need an appointment to consign, we encourage you to schedule one to ensure a smooth drop-off process. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments help us serve you better and faster.

Sorting and Selection Process:

Most of the time, we will sort through your items without you being present. Any items we do not select for sale will be automatically donated to charity. This helps us manage our inventory efficiently and ensures that unselected items find a good home.

Out of Season Items:

We do accept out-of-season items; however, they may not be credited immediately. We will store these items and put them up for sale in the appropriate season. Please note that consigning in the correct season can result in higher earnings.

Account Setup and Earnings:

The first time you consign with us, we will set up an account for you and provide you with an unique account number - don't worry, we'll make it easy to remember! When bringing in new items to consign and checking your balance and using credit or requesting payout, you'll use this number.

Pick Up Service for 25+ items

For your convenience, we offer pickup services in the Canmore, Banff, Cochrane, Airdrie, and Calgary areas. Have a lot of stuff? Save yourself some time! Schedule a pickup appointment, and we will collect your items directly from your location, saving you time and effort. Please note that we can only offer pick ups for 25 items or more.
